1. Introduction
The Capisso Document Uploader Chrome Extension ("Extension") is provided by Capisso to help you quickly upload documents from any webpage to your Capisso account. This privacy policy explains how the Extension handles your data.
2. Data Collection and Usage
2.1 Authentication Data
The Extension accesses your Capisso authentication session through browser cookies to automatically authenticate you. This includes:
- Authentication tokens (stored as httpOnly cookies)
- User email and name
- Company and Business Unit information
Storage: Authentication state is cached locally in Chrome's storage for 1 hour to improve performance. This data never leaves your browser.
2.2 Document Data
When you upload a document using the Extension, the following data is processed:
- The document file (image or PDF)
- Source URL where the document was found
- Selected Business Unit
- Upload timestamp
Transmission: Documents are sent directly to Capisso servers using encrypted HTTPS connections. Documents are processed according to the main Capisso Privacy Policy.
2.3 Usage Data
The Extension collects minimal usage data for functionality purposes:
- Upload success/failure events
- Error messages for troubleshooting
- Document source (marked as "chrome" in your Capisso account)
3. Permissions Explained
The Extension requires the following Chrome permissions:
- sidePanel: To display the upload queue sidebar
- contextMenus: To add "Upload to Capisso" option when you right-click images or PDF links
- storage: To cache authentication state and selected Business Unit locally
- activeTab: To access the current tab's URL for source tracking
- tabs: To capture screenshots when using the screen grab feature
- scripting: To enable Gmail PDF extraction feature
- notifications: To notify you of upload completion or errors
- cookies: To access your Capisso authentication session
4. Data Security
- All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
- Authentication tokens are httpOnly and never accessible to JavaScript
- No data is shared with third parties
- No analytics or tracking beyond functional requirements
- Local storage is isolated to the Extension and not shared with websites
5. Data Retention
- Authentication cache expires after 1 hour and is automatically refreshed
- Business Unit selection persists until you change it or uninstall the Extension
- Upload queue is cleared after documents complete uploading (3 seconds for Extension, full processing continues server-side)
- Uninstalling the Extension removes all locally stored data from your browser
6. Third-Party Services
The Extension communicates only with Capisso servers. We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services within the Extension.
7. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data stored in your Capisso account
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Uninstall the Extension at any time
- Request information about data processing
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
